The Abbey Inn
The Abbey Inn isn't just a pub; it's a true escape from the everyday. This charming retreat is beautifully situated on the banks of the River Dart, offering a peaceful haven where the gentle sound of the flowing water is a constant companion. As you approach, you'll feel completely immersed in nature, surrounded by the lush green of Dartmoor's ancient trees.
Inside, you're greeted by a warm, welcoming atmosphere and genuinely friendly staff. With a fantastic selection of traditional drinks on tap, including a crisp Devon Red cider and a rich Abbey's Best Ale, there's a perfect pint for every taste. We took our drinks outside and settled into a perfect spot by the river, completely surrounded by the serene scenery, where you can simply relax and watch the world go by.
P&P
Background....
F19th-Century Coaching Inn: The pub was originally a crucial stop for horse-drawn stagecoaches and travelers in the 1800s. Its location on the main road made it a perfect rest point.
Built from Two Buildings: It's believed that the inn was created by combining two earlier buildings, which gives it its unique, charming layout.
A Timeless Retreat: While its purpose has changed over the centuries, it has always been a key part of the Buckfastleigh community, offering a welcome retreat to locals and visitors alike on the banks of the River Dart.
