Background....

The building itself holds a fascinating history. For many years, it was affectionately known as "The Yacht" and even gained a national reputation as a lively spot in the 1970s. You might recall stories of its spirited past,

including the legendary landlord Ernie Garnham, who reputedly used a broom to signal closing time! While it was more recently known as "Cinnabar," the Narvidge family, owners of East Street Pub Company, made a wonderful decision to restore its original name, bringing back a sense of familiarity and heritage to the Torquay harbour.

The transformation of this Victorian building has been substantial. Extensive renovations, including stripping out the old structure and significant unseen work to the floor and roof, have truly opened up the space. The design, spearheaded by Torquay-based company Gutxi, features captivating elements like suspended model yachts and a dramatic gold art installation resembling a chandelier with spiralling fish, adding to its unique charm.

The Yacht is truly designed as a "chameleon place," offering diverse experiences across its two beautifully crafted floors, all inspired by a maritime theme and the tale of a Torbay sailor who brought back global flavors from

his travels:

Upstairs: This inviting space features a restaurant perfect for all ages, alongside a chic boutique champagne bar. You can step out onto the terrace and enjoy fantastic views overlooking Torquay harbour.

Downstairs: This area caters to a more adult ambiance, complete with comfortable booth seating. It also houses an innovative open distillery space in collaboration with Coastal Distilling Co. Here, you can witness the creation of their signature gins and other spirits, and even enjoy tasting sessions.

When it comes to dining and drinks, The Yacht aims to impress. Their menu offers a delightful range, from breakfast and afternoon tea to delicious sandwiches and a main menu brimming with globally inspired dishes.
